Kelli Westcott, MD was elected Chair of The Mutual's Board of Directors on June 16, 2021. Dr. Westcott assumes the role from Dr. Catherine Hurt who led the Board from 2015 – 2021. Dr. Hurt will remain on the Board to assure a smooth transition.
Dr. Westcott joined The Mutual as a Physician Education in 2014 and the Board of Directors in 2015 as a Policyholder Liaison. Prior to her election as Chair, Dr. Westcott served as Vice Chair of the Board and Chair of the Compensation Committee; she also was a member of the Nomination Subcommittee, Governance and Audit Committees.
Dr. Westcott is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine since 2005. She received a BA in English from Walla Walla College in 1992 and an MD from Loma Linda University in 1997. She completed an internship at Naval Medical Center San Diego and served as a General Medical Officer for the US Navy for 3 years. Dr. Westcott completed a residency in Emergency Medicine in 2004 at Loma Linda University Medical Center.
Dr. Westcott is a Senior Partner at Vituity and worked as an Emergency Physician at Adventist Medical Center, Portland from 2005-2017. She has served as an Assistant Medical Director and Medical Staff President, as well as Chair of the Medical Quality Management Committee at Adventist Medical Center, Portland. She worked at Feather River Hospital from June 2017 until it closed, due to fire damage in November, 2018. She is currently working at Hanford Hospital in Hanford, California.
Dr. Westcott's professional associations include the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and Oregon American College of Emergency Physicians (OR/ACEP). She also attends conferences sponsored by Medical Professional Liability Association (MPLA) formerly the Physician Insurers' Association of America (PIAA) and completed a MPLA Fellowship in May 2019, solidifying her knowledge in the professional liability field.
